Sign Shop is a unique addition to a vibrant Highlands, Denver neighborhood defined by context and light. The project is shaped using two arcs – one embracing the neighborhood, the other opening up to downtown Denver. The intersections of these arcs and a subliminal connection to the existing downtown street grid create a system of clerestory openings that illuminate the various interior spaces. These clerestories, along with the desire for interior spatial variation, create a roof plane that animates the exterior form and juxtaposes with the stoic brick box of the existing structure itself.
