[ASPEN GROVE] : : :
The project is named for the beautiful Aspen Grove to which it responds. The existing grove screens the road to the west and mirrors the L-shaped house plan. This creates an 'outdoor room' which opens up to the southern sun and becomes the main focus of the residence. The site includes wetlands, 16th green golf course views and valley views to the north. The residence is divided into two parts – public and private – through a glass and wood entry. This entry becomes a link to the courtyard by day and a glowing lantern for guest by night. The public side is very transparent and includes dining, kitchen, living and a loft. The private side has four bedroom suites anchored by a common recreation / tv room and wet bar. The outdoor room is virtually accessible throughout the home. Unique in many ways, the house is the result of a fruitful collaboration between owner, architect and builder.
