This is an addition to a 1970's architect designed modern home. The site, in south Denver, sits on a hilltop with unobstructed 180 degree views of the mountains. The program goals revolve around additional upper level living space both interior and exterior. A vertical weathered steel mass becomes the primary focal point of the residence. This observation tower is slotted with view apertures that framed breathtaking views by day and becomes a welcoming lantern at night.
