Spruce Meadows, an equestrian subdivision with views of the Front Range and large one to three acre lots, sits at the crest of a hill just north of Broomfield. Key to the Studio's designs for the subdivision are the concepts that drive each house. In one case a series of courtyards punctuate the composition and tie inside and outside together. In another, cascading floor levels establish clear distinction between public, work, and private zones while allowing the house to feel connected throughout. Regionally inspired farm compounds and high levels of specificity to the views, constraints, and orientations of the site inform yet another. The common theme is undoubtedly the pursuit of conceptual clarity in the designs as the needs of the owner, attributes of the site, and spirit of the architecture come together.
